Gerry Stickells: Road manager of the Jimi Hendrix Experience and for 3 Dog Night in 1974.

Appropriate or not I MUST elude to a story Gerry told me that has become a classic with me. Nothing to do with Jimi and the group, but a great story just the same. Gerry said that one day he was in an English pub in London having a drink. There was an older, "cockney" fellow from up North, sitting at the bar. Gerry could hardly understand what he was saying, due to his heavy accent. He had obviously been there the better part of the day. He had a half-finished tomato beer that he was working on. (They look horrible but actually taste pretty good) The gent tipped up the mug and took a couple of swallows to finish it, but couldn't keep it down. He threw up, spewing the bar and trying, somewhat successfully, to barf it back into the mug, as to not make a mess. Everyone took a step back. The gent took his shirt-sleeve and wiped his mouth off with a big swipe across the face. He then announced, "YOU AIN'T GETTIN' AWAY FROM ME, YOU BLOODY BASTARD!" and with that, he SLAMMED the ungodly looking mixture of tomato beer and bial back down his throat. (okay, now. Everybody say "oooooooooo GROSS!!)
