1983: American Recording sparks the beginning of a future drummer |
At
American Recording with first generation Rock n Roll guitar
legend, Duane Eddy. Meeting him was a thrill.
As you
can see, Duane is a very personable guy. Wonderful with
children, he also responded to my excitement in meeting him
with such class and humility. Duane Eddy had a career that
inspired years of rock guitar players with his famous,
"Twangy Guitar" sound on songs such as "Rebel Rouser," "40
Miles of Bad Road" and the movie theme, "Because They're
Young." As I was taking these photos, Duane began playing a
little on his guitar, and let me tell you: This guy can
play. A gentleman and an early guitar hero of mine, he
entertained and influenced an entire generation. I'd go so
far as to say that Duane is one of the original perpetrators
of today's "guitar syndrome" that has engulfed the world.
Chuck Berry was the only other one that enjoyed such
monumental "guitar star" stature in the early days of rock.
-- I love this part of Rock n Roll, meeting your peers and
heroes. --
